The 2017 Hoofdklasse season marked the continued dominance of Neptunus, which won their fifth straight Holland Series, though the Amsterdam Pirates had the best regular season record.

Two veterans for Amsterdam won the major awards as Rob Cordemans tied a record with his 10th Pitcher of the Year honor, while Danny Rombley won his first MVP.

The league played with only seven teams when last year's 4th-place finisher Kinheim dropped down to the Overgangsklasse after all its players left for other teams .
