History, Comments, Contributions[edit]

In their third game of the season on April 9th, the 2015 Cleveland Indians came very close to recording a combined no-hitter, as they held the Houston Astros hitless until Jed Lowrie homered against Nick Hagadone with one out in the 9th. It was Houston's sole hit of the game, which Cleveland won, 5-1. Trevor Bauer pitched 6 hitless innings and recorded a career-high 11 strikeouts in starting and winning the game, and was followed by relievers Kyle Crockett and Scott Atchison, who pitched a hitless inning each. Hagadone struck out Chris Carter to start the 9th, before allowing Lowrie's homer. The four pitchers combined for 16 strikeouts, but also allowed 7 walks. However, the game was one of the rare highlights for Cleveland that first month, as they finished April with a record of 7-14, the worst in the American League. The pitching had been particularly problematic, with TJ House going 0-4 and defending Cy Young Award winner logging in at 0-3, while closer Cody Allen had four saves, but an 0-2 record and an 11.57 ERA.
