History, Comments, Contributions[edit]
After a promising 1986 season, Sports Illustrated had a photo of the 1987 Cleveland Indians on its cover with the title "Best team in baseball?" That optimism did not last long. The Indians had a wretched season, finish with the worst record in the major leagues, and after the season Bill James had some fun decrying the headline as the most incorrect prediction anyone could have made.
