Joe Posnanski

Joe Posnanski has been a sportswriter specializing in baseball for the Kansas City Star, Cincinnati Post and Sports Illustrated. He is the author of a number of books, including The Soul of Baseball about Buck O'Neil, The Baseball 100 and The Machine about the Cincinnati Reds of the mid-1970s. He won the Associated Press Sports Editors' award for "Best Sports Columnist" in 2002 and 2005 and was named "National Sportswriter of the Year" by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association in 2012. He has won two Emmy awards. His 2023 book Why We Love Baseball landed him on the New York Times list of best-sellers, a rarity for a book about baseball.

In addition to his books about sports subjects, he has also written a biography of magician Harry Houdini
