History, Comments, Contributions[edit]

The 2011 Oakland Athletics suffered one of the worst losses in franchise history on August 25th facing the New York Yankees in New Yankee Stadium. After taking an early 7-1 lead, their pitchers gave up grand slams to Robinson Cano in the 5th inning, Russell Martin in the 6th and Curtis Granderson in the 8th, on their way to a 22-9 loss. The three slams were a first in major league history, and were fed by their staff giving up 21 hits and 13 walks in the game. The 22 runs allowed were the most by an Athletics team since they played in Kansas City in 1955.
