1955 Kansas City Athletics / Franchise: The Athletics / BR Team Page[edit]
Record: 63-91, Finished 6th in American League (1955 AL)
Managed by Lou Boudreau
Coaches: Harry Craft, Burleigh Grimes, Ski Melillo and George Susce
History, Comments, Contributions[edit]
The 1955 Kansas City Athletics were the first team in Athletics franchise history not to play in Philadelphia, PA, their home since the American League's first season in 1901, having been relocated to Kansas City, MO following the 1954 season and years of poor attendance in the City of Brotherly Love. They drew a whole lot better in the Midwest, and also improved by ten games over their awful previous season, but like every successive edition of the team to play in K.C., they would never be even close to contention.
Awards and Honors[edit]
- All-Stars: Jim Finigan and Vic Power
