Biographical Information[edit]
Rick Rodriguez was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the 2nd round of the 1981 amateur draft.
Rodriguez began his career as a pitching coach in 1991 with the Pocatello Pioneers. He moved to the Oakland A's' chain in 1992 with the AZL A's. He then moved up to the A Short-Season Southern Oregon Athletics in 1994-1995. In 1995-1999 he was the pitching coach of the Modesto A's. From 2000 to 2002, 2004 to 2010, and 2013-2014, he was the pitching coach of the Sacramento River Cats. In 2003, he managed the Modesto A's. He was named the A's bullpen coach in 2011 and 2012. In 2015 he returned to the California League with the Stockton Ports. Rodriguez returned to AAA as pitching coach of the Nashville Sounds in 2016-2018 and Las Vegas Aviators in 2019. He was scheduled to return to Las Vegas in 2020 before the season was cancelled due to Covid-19 then was pitching coach for Las Vegas in 2021. Rodriguez was assistant pitching rehab coordinator for the A's in 2022 and Minor League Pitching Rehab Coordinator in 2023.
