History, Comments, Contributions[edit]

The 1948 Chicago Cubs finished in last place in the National League for only the second time in team history, the first having come in 1925, in one turned out to be a one-year blip. In contrast, only three years removed from what turned out to be their last World Series appearance of the 20th Century, the Cubs were entering a long, dark tunnel and would not have a winning record again until 1963 - and that with the help of expansion.
