Biographical Information[edit]
Zoë Lageweg debuted for the Dutch women's national team as a teenager at the 2022 European Women's Championship. In the first game, she started at DH against champion France, hitting 7th and doubling off Camille Foucher her first time up. She was 0-for-4 the rest of the tourney at the plate but turned in a big game on the mound versus Great Britain. Starting, she went 1-2-3 in the first against Laura Hirai, Dora Lau and Darier Malone (K). In the second, Claury Scatliffe reached on an error, Rose Bhanji walked and Gabriella Sassoli grounded them over. The lefty walked Kelly Wright and Amy Trask to force in one run, then recovered to fan Caitlin Frank and retire Hirai on a pop-up. In the third, now with a 3-1 lead, she retired Lau, walked Malone, retired Scatliffe and walked Antonia Ferguson and Sassoli. Ciska Welboren relieved and escaped the jam with one run allowed in. Welboren and Simone Willemse completed the no-hitter that Zoë had started. She tied for 4th in the event in walks issued but was second in most innings without allowing an earned run (Welboren was the only one with more). [1]
