Biographical Information[edit]

Yung-Chieh Yeh pitched in the CPBL for 7 years.

Yeh represented Taiwan in the 2001 World Youth Championship and 2002 World Junior Championship. The Brother Elephants selected him in the first round of the 2005 CPBL Draft, and he attended the 2006 CPBL All-Star Game; he pitched a shutout inning to get a hold. Yeh's ERA was 6.60 in 2006 while having a 4-8 record, and he struggled again in 2007 as he was 5-7 with a 5.53 ERA.

The New Taipei native broke out in 2008, and he had a 3.34 ERA with 10 holds as a reliever. He ranked 4th in appearances (2 behind Yu-Chieh Shen) and 2nd in holds (4 behind Po-Chang Shen). Yeh also attended the 2008 CPBL All-Star Game, and he pitched 2 shutout innings. In the 2008 Taiwan Series, he collected a hold with a shutout inning in Game 1, then pitched 2 innings combined in Game 4 and 5 with 3 runs allowed. The Elephants were beaten by the Uni-President Lions in 7 games.

However, Yeh couldn't repeat his solid performance in 2009, and his ERA rose to 6.02 in 34 appearances. He pitched 2 1/3 shutout innings in 2 games in the 2009 Taiwan Series, but the Elephants lost to the Lions in 7 games again. Yeh bounced back in 2010, having a 4.38 ERA in 34 games. He was selected into the 2010 CPBL All-Star Game, but he allowed 2 runs in 2/3 of a inning and got a loss. He struggled again in 2011 as his ERA was 5.06 in 24 appearances, and he only pitched 8 games with the big club in 2012. Yeh announced his retirement after the 2012 season, and he became a coach. He was the pitching coach of the Elephants from 2013 to 2014.

Yeh's repertoire included a fastball (peak 90.7 mph), changeup, slider, curveball and shuuto.

Overall, Yeh was 25-31 with a 5.17 ERA, struck out 253 and pitched 371 innings in seven seasons in the CPBL.
