Biographical Information[edit]
Yukiya Yano played for Mitsubishi East in the Industrial League after college. [1] He represented Japan in the 2023 Asian Championship. Yano debuted against Pakistan, going 1-for-2 with 3 runs scored, 2 walks, a steal and a 2-run double (against Syed Ali Shah in the 5th inning). He then went 1-for-4 against Thailand. He was 1-for-2 in the next game against Philippines, then hit a single against Yi-Lei Sun of Taiwan and recorded a steal. He then went 3-for-4 with a RBI single against Hyeon-su Jeong of South Korea in the 4th inning. In the Gold Medal Game, he was 0-for-4 with a run scored to help Japan beat Taiwan and win the Gold. He handled 17 chances error-free at second for the event. He led the tourney with 10 runs (two ahead of Jun-jae Jeong) and tied for second in swipes (behind Jun-jae Jeong). His six walks tied Tariq Suboh for second, two behind Seung-yeup Na. He was named the All-Star second baseman. [2]
