Biographical Information

Yordan Manduley has played in Cuba and Canada.

Manduley debuted with the Perros de Holguín in 2005-2006, hitting .215/.253/.307 and fielding .945 as the regular shortstop. In 2006-2007, he batted .231/.273/.306 as a part-timer. During 2007-2008, he improved to .311 and fielded .951. He produced at a .312/.354/.387 rate, fielding .957, in 2008-2009.

Yordan batted .336/.378/.450 with 15 doubles in 79 games in 2009-2010, fielding .962 at short. He was 9th in the Cuban Serie Nacional in assists (291) and tied Dainer Moreira for 9th with 17 errors. In 2010-2011, he hit .302/.343/.408 with 51 runs and 18 doubles in 85 games, fielding .979. He was second in the league with 345 assists (behind Alexander Ayala) and tied for 8th with 96 double plays (even with Ariel Borrero).

In 2011-2012, the Buenaventura native hit .351/.388/.443 with a .979 fielding percentage on the side. He set a Holguín record with 130 hits. He was among the league leaders in hits (2nd, 3 behind Yordanis Samon), assists (327, 7th) and average (5th, between Samon and Guillermo Heredia Jr. He won the Gold Glove at short and made the All-Star team as the league's top shortstop.

Manduley opened 2012-2013, hitting .296/.345/.409 in the first half for Holguín. The team did not qualify for the second half and Manduley moved to Villa Clara, for whom he batted .276/.343/.362. He was named both an Offensive All-Star at short and the Gold Glove winner. Manduley was put on Cuba's preliminary roster for the 2013 World Baseball Classic but did not make the final cut; they went to Erisbel Arruebarruena instead.

He hit .320/.368/.390 for Holguín in 2013-2014. He tied Roel Santos for 3rd in Cuba with 105 hits (behind Maikel Cáceres and Ariel Sánchez) and his 323 assists led all players regardless of position, but [Ayala beat him out as the Offensive All-Star at short and Ángel Miguel Fernández got the Gold Glove. In the 2014 Caribbean Series, he was 2 for 16 with a triple, run and two RBI. His big hit was a two-run triple off Daryl Thompson. He also hit into a Irving Falú error that scored Ramón Lunar for Cuba's first Caribbean Series win in 54 years.

In the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games, the 28-year-old made his debut for the Cuban national team, going 2 for 8 with a double, two runs and a RBI, backing up Moreira at SS and Yulieski Gourriel at 2B for the Gold Medalists. He batted .314/.375/.404 for the 2014-2015 Perros and fielded .963 at short. He was 0 for 2 in the 2015 Pan American Games, backing up Yorbis Borroto at short for the Bronze Medal winners.

He was one of several Cubans given permission to play for the Les Capitales de Québec in 2015 under loosened rules allowing Cubans to play abroad. His Cuban teammates were Alexei Bell, Yunieski Gourriel and Ismel Jiménez; the team was very multinational with numerous Canadians and Americans as well as players from Venezuela, the Netherlands, the US Virgin Islands and Dominican Republic. He hit .269/.306/.333 for Les Capitales and was their main shortstop. He started for Cuba ahead of Borroto in the 2015 Premier 12. Manduley was 3 for 16 with a walk and 3 runs while handling 23 chances error-free. He scored the winning run in the first extra-inning game in Premier 12 history, driven in by Yasiel Santoya against Puerto Rico. He also scored the winner versus Italy, drawing a walk from Trey Nielsen in the 7th and coming around on an Alfredo Despaigne hit.
