Biographical Information[edit]
Walt Head coached college baseball for about 30 years.
Head scouted for the Baltimore Orioles (1972-1977) and Toronto Blue Jays (1977-1983). He also became the first Michigan coach to win a Connie Mack national title. He was appointed head coach of Saginaw Valley State University in 1983. He won 772 games in his first 28 years, putting him in the top 25 in NCAA Division II history. He was named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 1995 and 2001.
In April of 2014, in Head's 31st year at SVSU, he was placed on paid leave for issues "related to the health and welfare of its players." [1]
