Biographical Information[edit]

First baseman/outfielder Chris Ebright played in the Chicago Cubs system from 1989 to 1993. He peaked at Double-A.

He was drafted twice. Initially he was taken by the San Diego Padres in the 12th round of the 1988 amateur draft, a few picks ahead of Pete Rose, Jr., but opted not to sign. He did sign after Chicago took him in the 18th round of the 1989 amateur draft, a few picks ahead of pitcher Donne Wall.

He hit .254/.355/.447 with 9 home runs, 45 RBI and 37 walks in 69 games for the Geneva Cubs his first campaign, then batted .234/.318/.394 with 11 home runs and 41 RBI in 107 games for the Peoria Chiefs in 1990. In 121 games for the Winston-Salem Spirits in 1991, he hit .280/.367/.434 with 13 home runs, 57 RBI and 13 stolen bases; in 1992, he hit .255/.343/.446 with 17 home runs and 77 RBI in 123 games for the Charlotte Knights. With the Orlando Cubs in 1993, Ebright batted .283/.376/.450 with 10 home runs and 56 RBI in 113 games. Overall, he hit .262/.352/.433 with 60 home runs, 276 RBI and 28 stolen bases in 533 games over 5 seasons. He also had a 0.00 ERA in 5 innings pitched over 4 appearances.

He managed the Newark Pilots of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League to a 26-22 record and a league championship in 2011; in 2012, he led the club to a 26-20 record and a playoff berth. He managed the Roswell Invaders of the Pecos League to a 50-16, first place finish in 2013. They were league champions. He served as head coach at Saginaw Valley State University from 2014 to 2018.

He was on the United States roster for the 1987 Intercontinental Cup, winning Silver.
