Virginia-North Carolina League
For the 1901 season, the Virginia League changed its name to the Virginia-North Carolina League. Like its predecessor, it only lasted one year. During its one year, Newport News moved to Charlotte, Portsmouth moved to Tarboro, and Norfolk and Richmond disbanded in early June. The league continued as the North Carolina League until disbanding August 17.
The second attempt at a Virginia-North Carolina League was a four team class D minor league. It operated only in 1905. Salisbury-Spencer moved to Winston-Salem on July 17, but the league folded August 19.
Only Charlotte, NC competed in both leagues.
