Team History[edit]
The Algodoneros de Union Laguna (or Union Laguna Cotton Dealers in English) are a Mexican League team. The Torreon-Gomez Palacio franchise of 1946 was listed as the Harriers. It also played in the Mexican Center League in 1968. The club was revived in 1970 under the name Algodoneros del Unión Laguna (Union Laguna refers to the metropolitan area formed by Torreon and its twin city of Gomez Palacio). It was also known as the Diablos Blancos (White Devils) in 1980 and 1981, in reference to Mexico City's famed Red Devils. The team reverted to the Torreon name in 1993 and held it until 2003, during a particularly uncompetitive period. They became the Vaqueros de Laguna in 2003. The Algodoneros only won pennants twice, in 1942 and 1950.
