Biographical Information

Infielder Alfredo Ríos was a star player for the Sultanes de Monterrey in the 1960s, and also in the Mexican Pacific League for his hometown team, the Ostioneros de Guaymas and for the Yaquis de Ciudad Obregón. He was considered a defensive wizard at second base, setting an LMP record for most double plays in a season in 1965-66 alongside keystone partner Jorge Fitch.

He later was a manager for a number of years in the Mexican League in the 1980s and 1990s.

He had starred for the Mexican national team in the 1954 Central American and Caribbean Games, scoring 9 runs for the Silver Medalists to tie Dario Rubinstein, Eladio Reverón and José Matos for the tournament lead.

He was elected to the Salon de la Fama in 1990.
