Biographical Information[edit]

Tyler Lockwood pitched in the minors.

Lockwood was 7-2 with a 2.01 ERA and 84 K in 57 IP as a high school junior. He was 5-2 with a 4.09 ERA as a college freshman, then improved to 7-2, 2.75 as a sophomore. He was 19th in NCAA Division I with only 1.29 BB/9 IP. He was third in the Mountain West Conference in ERA, tied Sean Hoelscher and Stephen Fife for third in wins, was 6th in strikeouts (71) and led in innings (104 2/3). He joined Stephen Strasburg and Fife as the All-MWC starting pitchers. He faded to 4-2, 4.71 in a junior slump. As a senior, he went 6-2 with 8 saves and a 2.19 ERA in 28 games. He tied for 8th in the MWC in wins and led in saves. He was named the All-MWC reliever. He saved a game in the 2010 College World Series.

The Boston Red Sox took Lockwood in the 25th round of the 2010 amateur draft; the scout was Jim Robinson. Lockwood was 1-0 with four saves and a 4.00 ERA that summer for the Lowell Spinners. He was 5-8 with 3 saves and a 6.00 ERA in 39 games for the Greenville Drive; he only had 1.17 unintentional walks per 9 IP (third-lowest in the South Atlantic League but allowed a .355 average. He split 2012 between Greenville (5-3, 9 Sv, 3.46 in 44 G) and the Salem Red Sox (7 R in 8 IP over 4 G). On May 8, he joined with Mickey Pena and Hunter Cervenka on a no-hitter of the Rome Braves. He struck out two of the last three batters in saving the first 9-inning no-no in Greenville Drive annals. For the year, he led Red Sox farmhands with 48 appearances on the hill and tied for 4th in saves. Boston let him go the next spring.

For 2014, Lockwood signed with Germany's Heidenheim Heidekoepfe. He made his Bundesliga-1 debut against the Stuttgart Reds and got the win (5 H, 10 K, 1 BB, 4 R, 3 ER in 8 IP).
