Ciego de Ávila has fielded a team in the Cuban Serie Nacional since 1977-1978. They made their first finals in 2010-2011 and won their first title in 2011-2012. They repeated as champions in 2014-2015 and 2015-2016. Key players have included Alejo O'Reilly, Isaac Martinez, Roger Machado, Yorelvis Charles and Vladimir García.Nicknamed Tigres (Tigers).
