Tennessee State University was known as Tennessee Agricultural & Industrial State College until 1968. The school sponsored baseball from at least 1957 through 1993. The team competed as a Division-I Independent in 1986-1987 and in the Ohio Valley Conference from 1988 to 1993. TSU's other teams still compete in the OVC. It was announced in 2024 that baseball will be returning to Tennessee State no later than the 2028 season.
