Biographical Information[edit]
George Smith, nicknamed "Sonny", played for the Chicago American Giants for a couple years, either in 1950 and 1951 or 1951 and 1952; sources differ. He then played for the Thetford Mines Miners of the St. Louis Browns/Baltimore Orioles organization in 1953 (.269/.360/.384, 10 HR, 85 RBI, 99 R, 36 SB) and 1954 (.255/.312/.335, 4 HR, 35 RBI, 31 SB).
He was also a guard/forward for the Harlem Globetrotters basketball team from 1948 to 1954.
