- 1913 - Eddie Plank outduels Christy Mathewson in Game 5 of the World Series to give the Athletics the Series win.
- 1915 - Dutch Leonard three-hits the Phillies in a 2-1 Game 3 win in the World Series. Duffy Lewis singles in Harry Hooper in the 9th with the winning run.
- 1948 - The Indians take the World Series, with a 4-3 win over the Braves in Game 6. Bob Lemon gets the win while rookie Gene Bearden saves it; Joe Gordon hits a key home run.
- 1971 - Brooks Robinson reaches base five straight times in the World Series, setting a Fall Classic record.
- 1972 - A wild pitch by Bob Moose (pictured) lets George Foster score the run that gives the Reds the win in Game 5 of the NLCS over Pittsburgh.
