December 20: Today's featured birthday is that of Bill Laskey, who turns 67.
- 1933 - The Pittsburgh Pirates acquire Red Lucas from the Cincinnati Reds in a deal for Tony Piet and Adam Comorosky. Lucas will go 13-0 against Cincinnati over the remainder of his career.
- 1947 - The Boston Red Sox and St. Louis Browns deal eight players. Vern Stephens goes to Boston and will lead the American League in RBI two of the next three seasons.
- 1971 - 22-year-old Vida Blue becomes the youngest MVP award winner, as he takes the 1971 American League MVP.
- 1983 - Willie Wilson, Willie Aikens and Jerry Martin of the Kansas City Royals are sentenced on drug charges. It is the first of several legal run-ins for Aikens.
- 1992 - The 1992 expansion draft is held. The Colorado Rockies pick David Nied (pictured) first and the Florida Marlins then select Nigel Wilson. Vinny Castilla, Bryan Harvey, Curt Leskanic and Carl Everett are among the best picks.
