- 1893 - Frank Shugart, Doggie Miller and Heinie Peitz hit three consecutive home runs for the St. Louis Browns, the first time in baseball history such a feat has taken place.
- 1909 - In the Blue Grass League Fred Toney throws a 17-inning no-hitter against the Lexington Colts, striking out 19.
- 1929 - Braves center fielder Earl Clark has 12 putouts, a 20th Century record for the position. Boston loses 5-2, thanks to three unearned runs on Rabbit Maranville's first error of the season.
- 1953 - Eddie O'Brien (pictured) and Johnny O'Brien become the first twins to play for the same Major League team on the same day. The Pirates lose 4-0 to Sal Maglie and the Giants.
- 1970 - Hoyt Wilhelm becomes the first major league pitcher to appear in 1,000 games.
