- 1903 - The New York Giants send Jack Cronin and Charlie Babb to Brooklyn for Bill Dahlen, who will lead the NL in RBI next year.
- 1924 - The Washington Senators get veteran Stan Coveleski from the Cleveland Indians for By Speece and Carr Smith. Coveleski will lead the AL in ERA next year.
- 1933 - The Philadelphia Athletics continue their Fire Sale, sending Lefty Grove, Rube Walberg and Max Bishop (pictured) to the Boston Red Sox for Bob Kline, Rabbit Warstler and $125,000, among a number of lop-sided deals that will lead to this date being nicknamed "Black Tuesday" by their fans.
- 1968 - The Kansas City Royals make their first trade, dealing Hoyt Wilhelm to the California Angels for Dennis Paepke and Ed Kirkpatrick.
- 1980 - The Milwaukee Braves make a major deal, picking up two future Cy Young Award winners - Rollie Fingers and Pete Vuckovich - plus slugger Ted Simmons from the St. Louis Cardinals. St. Louis gets Lary Sorensen, Sixto Lezcano and prospects David Green and Dave LaPoint.
