Biographical Information[edit]

Catcher-outfielder Dennis Paepke played four seasons with the Kansas City Royals, getting most of his at-bats in 1971. He made his major league debut in June of 1969 during the Royals' first season.

His father, Jack Paepke, never reached the majors as a player but was a big league coach for several seasons.

He was signed on January 13, 1964 by the Los Angeles Angels. He played for the El Paso Sun Kings in 1968. He was traded to the Royals alongside Ed Kirkpatrick in return for Hoyt Wilhelm on December 12, 1968; it was the first trade in Royals history. He was with Aragua during the winters of 1969-71.
