- 1903 - Tommy Corcoran records 14 assists, a major league record for a nine-inning game.
- 1922 - Ken Williams cracks two home runs in one inning, the first player to do so since the 19th Century.
- 1930 - In one of the most celebrated pitching matches in Negro League history, Smokey Joe Williams tops Chet Brewer, 1-0, in 12 innings. They allow 5 hits between them; Brewer fans 19 while Williams whiffs 25.
- 1956 - The largest crowd in minor league history to this point (57,000) turns out to see 51-year-old Satchel Paige and the Miami Marlins beat the Columbus Jets in the Orange Bowl.
- 1999 - Wade Boggs (pictured) homers for his 3,000th major league hit. He is the first player to have his 3,000th hit be a home run. He is also the second player to reach 3,000 hits in as many days as Tony Gwynn got his 3,000th yesterday.
- 2007 - Barry Bonds drills a home run off of Mike Bacsik Jr. for his 756th home run, breaking Barry Bonds' major league record.
