Talk:Immaculate Grid
Should we give this a page here? Doesn't fit under "Simulators", where we have our other baseball computer and board games. - Mischa (talk) 16:20, 22 October 2023 (UTC)
- Baseball simulations for lack of a better category. I've never understood the scoring system, if you want to take on the article. Philippe (talk) 18:38, 22 October 2023 (UTC)
- You're shooting for the lowest score. The more people that say the answer you do, the more points you get. If you miss an answer you get the maximum points. Jeff (talk) 00:52, 23 October 2023 (UTC)
Maybe we should have a new category for non-simulator trivia games like this, Horsehide Trivia and others. - Mischa (talk) 12:36, 23 October 2023 (UTC)
- Yes if you can think of other games that would fit the category. Maybe a general article on baseball trivia contests as well. Philippe (talk) 14:40, 23 October 2023 (UTC)
Is that okay? I just got my best ever - a 24 on yesterday's grid. And that's with a 14 for Steve Garvey in the top-left as my other 8 only totaled 10! (Though my son did better than me on the bottom right - Bullet Rogan got me a .4 while he had Bill Foster for even lower. - Mischa (talk) 12:39, 27 October 2023 (UTC)
I got 1 at #178. I agree that earlier players gets lower score as 7 of my 9 players played before 1960 lol - Rugosa1134 (talk) 13:04, 27 October 2023 (UTC)
If you have a black-and-white photo, you tend to be pretty good, especially if they have a cool mustache. I do worst with recent teams (Rays, Diamondbacks, Marlins, Rockies) as I pay a lot less attention to MLB than I did in the 1980s. It also helps to know if some guy played a few games with team X as someone else might not think of them or are otherwise not thought of (Casey Stengel for Dodgers and Hall of Fame - people are probably thinking of guys who were HoF players for the Dodgers like Koufax, Robinson and Reese, not a Hall-of-Fame manager who had played with them). It would be great if you could see your average for past grids - I think I average about 7 correct answers on the baseball one, 4 on the men's basketball and 1 on the hockey and women's basketball (I don't try soccer and football - I glanced at them a couple times). My memory of 1980s-1990s basketball players is sure coming back - I doubt I thought of Sam Perkins, Mark Eaton or Bimbo Coles in decades! - Mischa (talk) 13:23, 27 October 2023 (UTC)
Topped my not-so-long record with 14 in today's grid; half of that was Mike Schmidt in the top-right corner. I got a 42 on #178, which had been my record prior to this week. - Mischa (talk) 23:58, 28 October 2023 (UTC)
I got a score of 1 on today's easy grid - Mischa (talk) 23:37, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
Not adjusted for daylight savings; no new game up yet for today. - Mischa (talk) 10:23, 10 March 2024 (UTC)
Apparently, you can get a 0 as I got one yesterday - the Negro League grids tend to be pretty easy. - Mischa (talk) 10:06, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
