Biographical Information[edit]
Sébastien Lepouriel played regularly for the New Caledonia national team.
He debuted for New Caledonia as a teenager in the 2003 South Pacific Games, going 0 for 1. [1] He also was with them for the 2005 South Pacific Mini-Games. [2] He was 1-3 with a 5.56 ERA for the Montpellier Barracudas in the 2006 Division Élite in France, going 5 for 19 with a double, four runs and four RBI on offense. [3]
In the 2007 South Pacific Games, he was with New Caledonia when they won the Silver Medal. [4] He pitched two games in the 2011 Pacific Games. He tossed a fine game in losing a 2-1 duel to Royce Sadang of Palau (8 2/3 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 4 BB, 9 K). He also went the distance in a loss to eventual champion Northern Mariana Islands and was charged with 11 runs but only one was earned (his team made nine errors!). He gave up 11 hits and 5 walks while fanning five that day. Only Remi Couarraze had a better ERA for the event for New Caledonia. Lepouriel finished among the Games leaders in ERA (6th, 0.51), opponent average (10th, .205), IP (3rd, behind Joshua Jones and Sanail Colainima), strikeouts (4th, between Daniel Va'a and Emosi Gotegote) and losses (tied for first with Kalson Dulei, Colainima and Pemerika Mahuka).
