Biographical Information[edit]

Emosi Gotegote has played for the Fijian national team.

In the 2011 Pacific Games, he not only was Fiji's starting pitcher in the opener against American Samoa but he also hit cleanup! He began on a strong note by fanning Pemerika Mahuka and Leuma Fualefau then getting Louis Solaita on a grounder. He struck out his first at-bat, against Daniel Va'a. He finished the day with a strong 7 IP (5 H, 3 BB, 2 R, 0 ER, 8 K) in a complete game win. He also had a three-run triple off Va'a in the 5th to break open a game that had been 2-0. He later took the loss against Jacques Levy of New Caledonia. In the 5th/6th place game, he hit cleanup and played first, going 1 for 4 with a run and a RBI in a 8-7 win over American Samoa. Playing primarily first base when not pitching, he hit .211/.211/.316 with five RBI in six games to lead Fiji in RBI, one ahead of Tavo Sorovakatini. He was 1-1 with a 3.21 ERA and 13 K in 14 IP; he led Fiji in Ks (4 ahead of Sanail Colainima) and ERA (1.16 ahead of Colainima). He tied Rémi Couarraze and Manuel Sablan Jr. for 2nd in the Games in RBI (one behind Rico Castro), was 9th in opponent average (.189, between Kalson Dulei and Sébastien Lepouriel), ranked 9th in IP (between Levy and L'Amour Arurang), was 5th in K (between Lepouriel and John Pangelinan) and led with five wild pitches. Oddly, he wasn't the only player to lead his nation in ERA and RBI in the event as Couarraze did the feat for New Caledonia.
