Biographical Information[edit]

Sebastián García has been an outfielder for the Argentinian national team. He played in the 2010 South American Games, when Argentina won the Bronze Medal. He went 2 for 10 with a walk, hit-by-pitch, five strikeouts and RBI in the 2010 Pan American Games Qualifying Tournament. He played for Argentina when they won the 2011 South American Championship, 2012 South American Championship and 2013 South American Championship for their greatest title run yet. He was back with them for the 2015 South American Championship. He hit .231/.375/.385 with four RBI and four runs for Argentina when they won a Silver in the 2016 South American Championship.

He excelled as Argentina's leadoff man and center fielder in the 2018 South American Championship, hitting .2896/.483/.429 with 5 walks and 8 runs in 6 games. In the Gold Medal Game, was 1 for 4 with a walk and scored Argentina's first two runs off Igor Kimura of Brazil (driven in both times by Jacinto Cipriota) as Argentina won 7-1. They advanced to the 2019 Pan American Games; it was the first time their baseball team had gotten to a Pan American Games through a qualifying tournament rather than as host. He tied Alex Yun and Felipe Burin for second in the event in runs (4 behind Cipriota), tied Ricardo Kirihara for the most times hit by pitch (3) and tied Daniel Catalan and Kirihara for the most walks.

In the 2019 Pan American Games, he starred for Argentina at .533/.533/.667 with 3 runs in 4 games, handling 8 putouts in center. He led Argentina in hits (two ahead of Agustín Tissera) and led their regulars in average (.071 ahead of Tissera), OBP (.033 ahead of Tissera) and slugging (.129 ahead of Tissera). He led the entire event in average in fact (.033 ahead of Tristan Pompey) and was 5th in slugging (between Derwin Pomare and Wilfredo Rodríguez). Half of his eight hits came in the 7th/8th place game rout of Peru.
