[1] He had a 6.48 ERA in the 2017 Asian Championship, losing to Romeo Jasmin Jr. and the Philippines then saving Karunarathne Chirath's 2-0 win over Hong Kong, Sri Lanka's first win in an Asian Championship. His 8 2/3 IP were second on the team, behind Tharindu Madumal. [2]

Two balks and two grounders brought him in then Jayarathne fanned John Daru. In the 2nd, though, he allowed six hits while retiring only two and allowed six runs (one scored after Madumal Ponna Handi Tharidu relieved him). He did get his second K, against Sarawut Jandang. He took the loss to Kevin Kawin Irwin. [3]
