Biographical Information

Sandro Fabián has played for the Dominican national team before reaching the majors in 2024.

He was signed by San Francisco Giants scout Daniel Murray. He debuted as a pro with the 2015 DSL Giants, hitting .269/.348/.364 with 47 runs in 65 games, registering ten outfield assists. He came stateside in '16 and produced at a .340/.364/.522 clip for the AZL Giants, driving in 35 in 42 contests. He tied for 4th in the Arizona League in triples (5, one behind the co-leaders), was second in RBI (3 behind Charley Gould), was 4th in average (between Yohel Pozo and Gustavo Polanco), ranked third in slugging (after Óscar González and Curtis Terry) and was 3rd in OPS (after Josh Vidales and González). He joined González and Booker as the AZL All-Star outfielders. Baseball America rated him as the league's #14 prospect, between González and Mario Feliciano.

Playing full-season ball as a teenager, he hit .277/.297/.408 for the Augusta GreenJackets, rapping 30 doubles and having 15 assists. He was 4th in the Giants chain in two-baggers, between Aramis Garcia and Gio Brusa. He tied Gabriel Cancel and Aldrem Corredor for 8th in the South Atlantic League in that same department, though his 12 errors led the league's outfielders. Making his winter league debut, he was 0 for 1 for the 2017-2018 Leones del Escogido. Baseball America rated him as having the best outfield arm in the Giants system. In 2018, he batted .200/.260/.325 for the San Jose Giants. MLB.com still ranked him as the #8 prospect in the San Francisco organization.

Fabián had surgery for a thyroid problem that had been plaguing him and missed much of 2019. He split the summer between San Jose (.287/.353/.413 in 44 G) and the AZL Giants Black (.219/.366/.500 in 10 G). The 2020 minor league season was then wiped out by the COVID-19 pandemic. Returning in 2021 with the Richmond Flying Squirrels, he had his first regular action in three years. He hit .264/.297/.466 with 15 dingers in 90 games. He tied for 9th in the Giants chain in home runs.

A free agent, he signed with the Texas Rangers. He split 2022 between the Frisco RoughRiders (.258/.325/.480 in 69 G) and Round Rock Express (.212/.284/.394 in 32 G), reaching AAA when he was still only 24 years old. He tied Ezequiel Duran and Aaron Zavala for the 8th-most home runs in the Texas system, with 16. He hit .272/.339/.386 that winter for Escogido. He spent all of '23 in AAA, hitting .288/.331/.523 with 29 doubles, 23 homers and 78 RBI for the Express. He had 14 assists. He was among the 2023 PCL leaders in home runs (tied for 6th with Brian O'Keefe, Cody Thomas and Shay Whitcomb), doubles (tied for 8th with Taylor Kohlwey) and slugging (5th, between Coco Montes and Trenton Brooks). He was 4th in the Rangers chain in doubles, was 3rd in home runs (behind Abimelec Ortiz and Davis Wendzel) and tied Thomas Saggese for 5th in RBI. With Adolis García homering 39 times for the 2023 Rangers, Fabián did not get called up to The Show.

The Santo Domingo native was with the Dominican team for the 2023 Pan American Games, starting all four games in right field. Hitting cleanup in the opener, he struck out against Panama's Steven Fuentes his first time up. He got his first hit off Harold Araúz. He finished the Games 5-for-12 with two doubles, two runs and two RBI, handling 3 putouts with one error. His best game was a 3-for-3 showing against host Chile. After a rough winter with Escogido (.212/.236/.308 in 17 G), he produced similarly to 2023 - in 116 games with Round Rock, he hit 31 doubles, 17 homers, and collected 81 RBI and a .270/.343/.462 line. That is when he got the call to Texas, making his debut with the Rangers on September 6, 2024 as the starting left fielder against the Los Angeles Angels. He went 0 for 2 against fellow rookie Samuel Aldegheri before being replaced by pinch-hitter Travis Jankowski in the 7th inning.
