Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Ezequiel Durán was one of four players traded by the New York Yankees to the Texas Rangers on July 29, 2021 to acquire OF Joey Gallo; the others were P Glenn Otto, IF Josh Smith and IF Trevor Hauver. He had been signed by the Yankees as an international amateur free agent on June 2, 2017.

He made his major league debut with the Rangers on June 4, 2022, starting at third base and batting 7th against the Seattle Mariners. He went 0 for 3 in a 3-2 Rangers win. This came less than a week after Smith had made his own debut with the Rangers, also by starting a game at third base.

While he played over 100 games for the Rangers during the 2023, he was initially left off their postseason roster and missed the first three series altogether. He was activated before Game 4 of the World Series when Adolis García was placed on the injured list with a strained musle in his side, but did not see any action as the Rangers defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks in five games.

Notable Achievements[edit]

  • Won one World Series with the Texas Rangers in 2023 (he did not play in the World Series)
