Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Glenn Otto was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 5th round of the 2017 amateur draft after a great career at Rice University. Having been born and attended both high school and university in the Lone Star State, he was traded to the Texas Rangers on July 29, 2021 as part of the deal that brought Joey Gallo and Joely Rodriguez to the Yankees.
He had a very solid major league debut with the Rangers on August 27, 2021, starting against the Houston Astros. Facing one of the strongest offensive teams in the majors that season, he gave up no runs on 2 hits in 5 innings, striking out 7 and walking none. He left with a 2-0 lead, but the Rangers' bullpen allowed 5 runs in the 7th to lose the game, 5-4. His other starts did not go so well, as in 6 outings, he went 0-3, 9.26, giving up 32 hits in 23 1/3 innings. He did strike out 28 batters, though.
He earned his first major league win on April 22, 2022 against the Oakland Athletics. He faced his former high school teammate, Adam Oller, who was starting for Oakland in that game. It was his first major league game that season, and he gave up 1 run on 2 hits in 5 innings to earn the 8-1 win, while Oller was the loser.
