Biographical Information[edit]

Adam Oller made his major league debut for the Oakland Athletics on April 12, 2022 as the starting pitcher against the Tampa Bay Rays. He was facing another pitcher making his debut that day in Tommy Romero. Neither pitcher lasted long, both being chased before the end of the 2nd inning, and neither figured in the decision as Tampa Bay eventually won the game, 9-8. He was only slightly better in his second start, on April 17th, as he lasted 3 1/3 innings against the Toronto Blue Jays, allowing 3 runs to be charged with a 4-3 loss. His third start on April 22nd was another interesting match-up as his opponent was his old high school teammate, Glenn Otto, making his first start of the year for the Texas Rangers. Both pitchers went 5 innings, but Otto gave up just 1 run while Adam allowed 5 to be charged with an 8-1 loss. Thus, after three games, his ERA was an ungainly 11.17.

Oller was originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 20th round of the 2016 amateur draft. He played in the Pirates organization from 2016 to 2018, without much success (his ERA was 6.29 in 29 games in 2018), then in 2019 was signed as a free agent by the San Francisco Giants after starting the year in the Frontier League with the Windy City ThunderBolts. Playing for the Augusta GreenJackets that season, he went 5-6, 4.02 in 17 starts then in December was claimed in the AAA phase of the 2019 Rule V Draft by the New York Mets. That is where he finally found some success after being forced to sit out the 2020 season when the minor leagues were shut down by the Coronavirus pandemic. To get into some game action, he payed in the Australian Baseball League, with the Sydney Blue Sox, after the missed season. In 2021, he was a Mets' organizational All-Star playing for the AA Binghamton Rumble Ponies and AAA Syracuse Mets and combining to go 9-4, 3.45 in 23 starts, with 138 strikeouts in 120 innings. On March 12, 2022, just when spring training started, he was traded to the Athletics alongside J.T. Ginn in return for Chris Bassitt.

Oller's older brother Joshua has been an assistant coach at Colby Community College [1].
