Biographical Information

Samuel Adames has pitched in the Dominican Republic and Japan and for the Dominican national team.

He was originally signed by the Kansas City Royals. He was 2-0 with a 2.36 ERA for the 2014 DSL Royals and 1-2, 6.59 with a save for the same team in 2015. He next signed with the Yomiuri Giants in 2016. He was 4-4 with a 3.16 ERA in the minor Eastern League in 2017.

In 2018, he became the closer for the Giants' EL team and was 1-1 with 13 saves and a 2.66 ERA. He was 2nd in the EL in saves behind Fumiya Ono. He got called up to the Central League team and was 0-2 with 4 saves and a 3.94 ERA in 28 outings. He spent most of 2019 in the minors (1-3, 3.02 in 37 G) and was 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA in nine games for the big club. His fastball had been timed as high as 97.5 mph.

He then made the Dominican squad for the 2019 Premier 12. He got into one game, closing out their 14-4 mercy rule win over the Dutch national team. Relieving Cristofer Ogando in the 6th with a 13-3 lead, he retired Juremi Profar. Sharlon Schoop and Ray-Patrick Didder singled and advanced on a grounder by Roger Bernadina. A wild pitch scored Schoop but Adames recovered to retire Dwayne Kemp. In the 7th, he went 1-2-3 against Curt Smith, Hendrik Clementina and Chadwick Tromp.
