Biographical Information[edit]

Samuel Adames has pitched in the Dominican Republic and Japan and for the Dominican national team.

He was originally signed by the Kansas City Royals. He was 2-0 with a 2.36 ERA for the 2014 DSL Royals and 1-2, 6.59 with a save for the same team in 2015. He next signed with the Yomiuri Giants in 2016. He was 4-4 with a 3.16 ERA in the minor Eastern League in 2017. [1]

In 2018, he became the closer for the Giants' EL team and was 1-1 with 13 saves and a 2.66 ERA. He was 2nd in the EL in saves behind Fumiya Ono. He got called up to the Central League team and was 0-2 with 4 saves and a 3.94 ERA in 28 outings. He spent most of 2019 in the minors (1-3, 3.02 in 37 G) and was 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA in nine games for the big club. His fastball had been timed as high as 97.5 mph. [2]

He then made the Dominican squad for the 2019 Premier 12. He got into one game, closing out their 14-4 mercy rule win over the Dutch national team. Relieving Cristofer Ogando in the 6th with a 13-3 lead, he retired Juremi Profar. Sharlon Schoop and Ray-Patrick Didder singled and advanced on a grounder by Roger Bernadina. A wild pitch scored Schoop but Adames recovered to retire Dwayne Kemp. In the 7th, he went 1-2-3 against Curt Smith, Hendrik Clementina and Chadwick Tromp. [3]
