Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference
The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) is a Division-II conference which operates in the western United States, mostly in Colorado with other members in Nebraska and New Mexico.
It can trace its roots back as far as 1909, when the Colorado Faculty Athletic Conference was formed by the following four charter members: University of Colorado, Colorado A&M (now Colorado State University), Colorado College and Colorado School of Mines. In 1910, the league changed its name to the Rocky Mountain Faculty Athletic Conference (RMFAC). Membership grew until 1924, when a major defection occurred as seven schools dropped out of the RMFAC to form the Mountain States Conference (also known as the Skyline Conference). Leaving the RMFAC were Colorado, Colorado State, Brigham Young, Utah State, Wyoming and Denver. The RMFAC continued to operate under faculty administration with five schools - Colorado College, Colorado Mines, Montana State, Northern Colorado and Western State.
In 1989 and 1991, only three RMAC schools competed in baseball, making baseball unofficial and not a RMAC sport. At some point between 1988 and 1993, the conference and its schools transferred from NAIA to the NCAA. From 1993 to 1995, the schools competed in the Mile High Intercollegiate Baseball League, which the RMAC includes in its baseball history.
