Heartland Collegiate Conference
The Heartland Collegiate Conference was a NCAA Division II conference which competed from 1978-1979 to 1989-1990, although the conference did not sponsor baseball after 1985. Most of the schools held dual membership in a second conference, the result of which is that there was never a formal conference schedule for baseball. The conference held a tournament in early May from 1979 to 1981, moving it to mid April from 1982 to 1985.
The HCC was mainly based in Indiana, with a school in Ohio, and another in Kentucky.
Concurrent with HCC competition, Saint Joseph's, Indiana Central, and Ashland competed in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, Butler and Evansville competed in the Midwestern Collegiate Conference, Valparaiso joined the AMCU in 1984, while Georgetown held dual NAIA/NCAA membership until 1982, when the school left the conference and stayed in NAIA. Butler, Evansville, and Valparaiso were moving to Division I, while Saint Joseph's, Indiana Central, and Ashland stayed in Division II.
not to be confused with the similarly named DIII Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, or the later DII Heartland Conference
