Heartland Conference
The Heartland Conference was an NCAA Division II conference, founded in 1999, that consisted schools from Texas, New Mexico, Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. On July 1, 2006, Western New Mexico University left the Heartland Conference to join the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. In August 2017, the Lone Star Conference announced that eight of the nine members of the Heartland Conference (including Dallas Baptist University, which competes in Division I for baseball) would join in Fall 2019; the remaining member, Newman, announced it would seek other affiliation at that time. Newman eventually decided to become an affiliate member of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. Rogers State then decided to follow to the MIAA instead of going to the Lone Star.
