Biographical Information[edit]

The brother of former Hoofdklasse MVP Bryan Engelhardt and son of Stanley Engelhardt, Rachid Engelhardt has also played in the Hoofdklasse.

In the 2011 World Youth Championship, he hit .208/.240/.417 but drove in 10 runs in six games, tying for 7th in the event in RBI. He also played in the 2011 European Junior Championship, batting .333/.412/.600 with a team-best six runs in five games. In the 2011 Hoofdklasse, he made his debut in the top level of Dutch ball at age 15, going 1 for 16 with a walk and six whiffs for HCAW. He started for Kinheim in 2012 but hit very poorly (.203/.268/.328). He did steal 11 bases in 13 tries. He had the 2nd-lowest average among qualifiers for the batting title but did tie for 8th in swipes (even with Mervin Gario, Randy Reiph and Raily Legito). He also ground into 7 double plays, tying Legito and Zerzinho Croes for second, one behind Lennart Koster. He played one game and did not bat in Kinheim's win of the 2012 Holland Series, replacing his brother in the 8th inning. Rachid took over for Quintin de Cuba in LF, with de Cuba moving to 1B to replace Bryan Engelhardt.

Rachid also played in the 2012 World Junior Championship, hitting .238/.273/.381 with a team-high five RBI. He participated in the MLB European Academy in 2012 as well. In the 2013 European Cup, he was 1 for 8 with a RBI. He signed with the Baltimore Orioles in 2013; the scouts were Fred Ferreira and Justin Prinstein. Engelhardt made his US debut with the DSL Orioles 2 in 2014.
