Biographical Information[edit]

Justin Prinstein pitched in eight different countries.

Prinstein had a 6.24 ERA in four outings for George Washington University in 2005 and had a 1-1, 7.32 record for the same school in 2006. He came to Belgium in 2007 to pitch for the Hoboken Pioneers. He was 2-0 with a 3.86 ERA, walking 14 and allowing 13 hits in 21 innings, before being let go by the club. He next went to Israel to play for the Netanya Tigers. With Netanya, he was 2-4 with a 7.68 ERA, walking 32 in 34 innings. He played in a minor Australian circuit in the winter of 2007-2008, appearing for Adelaide.

For the 2008 season, he signed with the Tex Town Tigers of the Dutch Eerste Klasse. He performed well enough there to win the interest of the Almere Magpies, a former Hoofdklasse team. He did well enough for them in 2009 to win a spot back in the Hoofdklasse for 2010. He also scouted in the Netherlands for the Houston Astros in 2009-2010. In 2010, he had a 1-7, 5.33 record for Almere, but this was on a team whose combined staff was 9-33, 5.86; among those he outpitched was Seattle Mariners signee Scott Ronnenbergh. Prinstein tied Gregory Gustina for 4th in the league in loses and tied Leon Boyd, Gustina and Jurjen van Zijl for 8th with six hit batsmen. He also cost his team a penalty through no fault of his own. The Hoofdklasse had put in a new role that in a three-game series, only one foreign pitcher could be used and that they could not relieve in the same series. On April 30, he started a game against DOOR Neptunus. Then, on June 10, he relieved in a make-up game from the 3-game series against Neptunus; skipper Marco Wels' move resulted in a 2-point penalty in the standings for the Magpies. Late in 2010, Prinstein moved on to Germany's Bundesliga with the HSV Stealers. He only pitched two games for them, striking out 15 in 17 2/3 IP and allowing 9 hits, 3 runs (one earned) and ten walks. He remained with the club for 2011 but struggled at 2-6, 8.47 with a .344 opponent average and was released. He tied for 6th in the Bundesliga-1's northern division in losses and tied for 9th with 9 wild pitches.

Also in 2011, Prinstein played and coached in Hungary. He was pitching coach for the Hungarian national team in the 2011 European Championship Qualifiers. He won both of his decisions for the Jánossomorja Rascals in Hungary's domestic league. For 2013, he moved to the Czech Republic as player-head coach for Hrosi Brno. He also scouted for the Baltimore Orioles, signing Rachid Engelhardt.
