Jurjen van Zijl is a pitcher in the Hoofdklasse. He debuted in 2005 with HCAW, going 5-1 with a 2.90 ERA the year he turned 21. He tied for 9th in the league in wins and was 16th in ERA. He lost his only game in the Holland Series. In 2006, he was 3-3 with a 3.15 ERA and finished 13th in the league in ERA. He practiced with the Dutch national team that year but did not appear for them in any major events.

Van Zijl moved to DOOR Neptunus in 2007 and posted a 5-2, 2.55 record with 41 hits in 53 innings. In 2008, he was 4-1 with a 4.10 ERA. He was 2-2 with two saves and a 3.74 ERA for Neptunus during 2009. He allowed one run in two innings in the 2009 Holland Series, which Neptunus won.
