Biographical Information

Pedro Ithier played as high as AAA then became a college coach.

Ithier played for the Puerto Rican national team in the 1974 Amateur World Series. The Cleveland Indians signed the Mayaguez native and sent him to the GCL Indians. He hit .281/.356/.333 in 1975 while fielding .914 at shortstop. He was 8th in the Gulf Coast League in average (9th was Clint Hurdle) and he was .001 shy of Nelson Norman for the best fielding percentage among the GCL's starting shortstops. Pedro was named the league's All-Star shortstop.

In 1976, he was with the San Jose Bees (.282/.368/.351 in 69 G, 15 steals in 21 tries) and Williamsport Tomahawks (.173/.232/.197 in 33 G). In '77, he was a utility infielder for the Waterloo Indians (.293/.365/.359 in 29 G) and Jersey City Indians (.215/.265/.282 in 46 G). Leaving the Indians chain, he played in 1978 for the Seattle Mariners' San Jose Missions (1 for 10) and the Pittsburgh Pirates' Shreveport Captains (.232/.284/.250 in 78 G, fielding .926 as their main shortstop).

His US playing career over, he moved to the Mexican League's Nuevo Laredo Owls and batted .235/.293/.259 as a part-time second baseman. Returning to Puerto Rico, he worked for the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority. He became a New York Yankees scout in 1988 and scouted Jorge Posada and Ricky Ledee for New York. He also worked at the Mayaguez Baseball Academy.

In August 2005, he became head coach of Wiley College.
