Williamsport Tomahawks

From BR Bullpen

A Cleveland Indians farm club, the Williamsport Tomahawks only played for one season, 1976, when they were a member of the Eastern League. The club from Williamsport, PA went 48-91 to finish with the worst record in the EL, though their attendance (53,757) was still good - 4th in an 8-team league. Managed by Red Davis, the team was last in pitching/defense (617 runs allowed) and next-to-last in offense (491 runs). They understandably had no All-Stars. Larry Andersen (9-6, 2.71) just missed the league's top 10 in ERA and would go on to a fine big-league career. OF-2B Wilmer Aaron (.308/~.362/.367, 34 SB) was fourth in the EL in average and 1B Wayne Cage (.286/~.357/.399) was ninth in the league in average and led the team with 10 homers - the rest of the club combined for just 24, putting them last in the Eastern in homers. Ron Hassey (.279) and Alfredo Griffin (.275) also passed through on the way to long major league careers.
