Biographical Information[edit]

Pai-Heng Lin has been an infielder and manager in the CPBL.

Lin was signed by the Brother Elephants when they were founded in 1990, and he hit .265/.315/.358 with a career-high 14 doubles. He then recorded a .248/.279/.337 batting line in 1991, then he hit .271/.314/.403 in 1992. Lin improved to .315/.391/.450 in 1993, but he was 2-for-16 in the 1993 Taiwan Series. The Brothers beat the Uni-President Lions in 6 games, and Lin won his only Taiwan Series title. He lost his spot in 1994, and he only played 40 games with a .237/.318/.303 batting line.

The Tainan native bounced back in 1995 and he hit .281/.319/.346 in 56 games. Lin then slumped to .213/.271/.250 in 1996, and he only got 22 at-bats combined in the next two seasons. He announced his retirement after the 1998 season, and he became a coach. Lin was the battery coach for the Elephants in 1999, then he succeeded Toshitake Nakayama as their manager in 2000. Lin led them having a 38-48 record in 2000, then I-Tseng Lin replaced him after the Brothers had a 1-5 record in the beginning of the 2001 season. He was named their battery coach again from 2001 to 2006 and in 2011, and he also managed their minor league team from 2009 to 2011 and in 2014.

Overall, Lin had hit .265/.316/.355 with 323 hits and 16 homers in 9 seasons in the CPBL. He never hit any triples in 1,220 career at-bats, and that is the CPBL record as of 2023.
