Oshkosh (Northwestern League)

Oshkosh, WI fielded a Northwestern League baseball team from 1886-1887 known as the Oshkosh Baseball Club. The team won the Northwestern League pennant in 1887. The 1887 team included two future Hall of Famers: outfielder Tommy McCarthy (who also played in 18 games with the National League Philadelphia Quakers in 1887) and manager Frank Selee. Also on the team are pitchers Tom Lovett, Con Murphy, and Bill Burdick, second baseman Taylor Shafer, third baseman John Doran, short-stop Dan Shannon, left fielder Jim Burns, center fielder William Ellsworth Hoy, catchers Ed Gastfield, Jimmy Cooney Sr., and George Wilson.
