Philadelphia Quakers
1890 PL Philadelphia Quakers / Franchise: Philadelphia Quakers / BR Team Page[edit]
Ballpark: Forepaugh Park (April 30-September 17, 1890)
The Quakers were one of the founding members when the Players League was formed on December 16, 1889. After a slow start under manager Jim Fogarty, the team finished the season with a 68-63-1 record, which was the second best record behind the National League Philadelphia Phillies, and ahead of the American Association counterparts, the Philadelphia Athletics. During the off-season, the Athletics were expelled from the AA, with Quakers replacing them. The team, now called the Athletics, was made up of many of the former Athletics players, including team manager Bill Sharsig.
