Biographical Information[edit]
Jim Burns played three years in the major league American Association, hitting over .300 each season. In his only full season, he had the highest batting average and slugging percentage (batting .304/.335/.408 as a regular outfielder) among the regulars on the 1889 Kansas City Cowboys. He also led the AA that year with 323 outfield putouts. Burns saw action in the minors between 1886-1896. With St. Paul in 1895 and 1896, his manager was Charlie Comiskey.
