Biographical Information[edit]
Nelson Prada played in the Minnesota Twins organization from 1995 to 1998, hitting .247 in 135 games. In 1995, he batted .269/~.296/.346 as the most-used catcher in a rotation of three backstops for the GCL Twins. In 1996, Prada produced at a .243/~.273/.375 clip in increased action for the GCL Twins. During 1997, Nelson backed up Chad Moeller on the Fort Wayne Wizards. Prada played 29 games and hit .245/~.267/.388. In 1998, the 22-year-old was with the Fort Myers Miracle, backing up Moeller and Matt LeCroy. In 41 games, he hit .241/~.262/.308.
He was a coach for the GCL Twins in 2004, Lakewood BlueClaws in 2015-2017, and Reading Fightin Phils in 2019. He was scheduled to be a coach for Reading in 2020 before the season was cancelled due to Covid-19. Prada was hitting coach for the DSL Marlins in 2021. He managed the Spanish national team in the 2021 European Championship and 2022 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers.
